The year has already turned away from its longest night, but the evenings are still generously long — as if time itself were giving us one more round to think, read, and enjoy a bit of quiet. At the Institute of Winter Wonders, we keep a special set of portals for evenings like this: our book collection.
In 2025, the Skoltech project team and the Russian Science Foundation wrapped up a long‑running popular‑science project, Life and Other Stories. A new English edition of the book is now out — and with today’s advent window we are, for the first time, putting all interviews from the project online, in open access, on a dedicated website.

- Mathematical Walks+ — encounters with leading mathematicians who can turn formulas into stories.
- For Sure — a book of science comics where rigorous ideas share a page with very unserious drawings. If everything goes as planned, next year will bring a sequel, For Sure. Coming Soon., followed by a collection of fairy tales written by scientists for the youngest readers (and their parents).
- The Forefront of Physics — physicists explain how the world works when you look at it with properly calibrated curiosity.
